M-1 Visa Student Insurance

An M-1 visa is offered to international students who would like to go through vocational training in the U.S. Once the school issues the Form I-20, an international student can apply for an M-1 visa at the U.S. consulate in their jurisdiction.

Even though the U.S. does not set any health insurance requirements for M-1 visa students (unlike J-1 visa students), as most schools have their own health insurance requirements, all such students must get proper health insurance during their stay in the U.S. It is highly suggested to get health insurance even you are attending a school that does not have any insurance requirements, as the cost of healthcare in the U.S. is extremely high.

There are many short-term medical insurance plans that can cover students on an M-1 visa. You can get instant quotes and make an instant purchase online. Please note that most plans exclude aviation. Therefore, if you are training at a flight school, make sure the insurance you purchase does not exclude it.

If the school itself would like to get medical insurance coverage for their international students in groups of five or more, they can purchase Group Insurance, which is 10% less expensive than the individual health insurance.

If your school has specific requirements that your health insurance must meet, please feel free to contact us so that we can evaluate which plan would be the most suitable to meet those requirements.
